The world's most popular cities are ranked every which way every year. We have rankings for the best cities to live in. We know the worst cities for healthcare and the best cities for commuting. We know the smartest cities and the strictest cities. We know the happiest cities, the saddest cities, the most fun cities, the most boring cities, the holiest cities, the most dangerous cities, the richest cities and the poorest. We know what city has the tallest building and what city has the most skyscrapers. We know what cities to visit in winter and what cities to visit in summer. We know a lot about a lot of cities, but we rarely know how to locate them on a map.

Paris, New York City, Moscow, Tokyo, Sydney and Rome are some of the most famous cities in the world, and everybody has heard of them. But when asked to locate them on a blank map, very few can do so. The cities, in many cases, are more popular than the countries they reside in. Most people know the Louvre is in Paris and the Colosseum is in Rome. The Big Apple is another name for NYC, the Red Square is famous in Moscow and that famous opera house sits in Sydney, but can you match the city to the country?
